8th Inning
Fresno State stranded two runners on base in the top of the 8th inning, at first and third, and still lead Georgia 6-0 heading into the bottom of the inning.
Fresno State needs 6 outs to secure their first National Championship in their baseball program’s history.
Georgia has 6 outs to tie this game and pray for a win. If they can tie and win this game it would be their second title since 1990.
Head Coach David Perno played on that 1990 team as an infielder.
In the bottom of the inning Georgia’s Gordon Beckham got his team on the board with a solo home run, his 28th of the season, which is good for 1st in the NCAA.
The home run was only the 5th hit allowed by Fresno State starter Justin Wilson in eight innings of work.
Heading to the ninth the Bulldogs lead Georgia 6-1.
3 outs left in Georgia’s season and more importantly, 3 outs left until Fresno State becomes National Champs.
